Having won two Cheshire Leagues, the Cheshire Girls U15s Knock Out Cup and the Shrewsbury Football Festival the girls qualified for the UK Nationals in Nottingham.

I can’t tell you how proud I am. There wasn’t an easy game all day (as you would expect playing in a competition reserved for District and County Champions from all around the UK. After 2 1/4 hours of footballl, the girls eventually got to the Final only to lose 0:1 to a superb Washington side. Todays results: – Berwick (1:0), Barry, South Wales Champions (0:0), Reading, reigning UK Champs (2:0), Hull (3:0), Leicester (0:1), Bolton Academy Juniors (1:0), Doncaster Belles (1:0).

This is the second time we’ve reached the final of the no.1 comp for grassroot football, although there were many pro players in the comp today. I’m just so proud of every single one of them!!….and finally mixed thoughts as I say goodbye (sob sob) to one of the best football talents I’ve coached as Emily Hamer signs a pro contract for Liverpool Ladies FC. (the second Davenham player to sign for Liverpool!).
